The Indian Navy officially inducted its eighth Ammunition- Cum Torpedo- Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 22 (Yard 132), during a ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. The ceremony was graced by Commodore Vinay Venkataram, Officer-in-Charge, Fleet Maintenance Unit (Mumbai), who was the chief guest.
The contract for the construction and delivery of eleven ACTCM Barges was signed with M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt. Ltd., a Thane-based MSME shipyard, on March 5, 2021. To date, seven of these barges have been successfully delivered, with the shipyard also awarded a contract for the construction and delivery of four Sullage Barges to the Indian Navy. This initiative highlights the Navy’s commitment to supporting and promoting MSMEs.

Designed indigenously by the shipyard in collaboration with an Indian ship design firm, these barges underwent successful model testing at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam to ensure their seaworthiness. Built in compliance with the relevant Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), the barges are a testament to the “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives of the Government of India.
The induction of these barges will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy by supporting the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of ammunition and other critical supplies to Navy platforms, both alongside jetties and outer harbours.
